Living Religion in Subud – Matthew Barry Sullivan
Is it not a significant event and a strange wonder when a Muslim assists a Christian to experience the inner reality of his or her religion? Or when a Jew does the same for a Muslim? This is what happens in Subud, because each receives a contact with the common source of all true religion. Subud appeared in the West in 1957 and without advertising itself and almost without media attention soon spread to over seventy countries, while remaining very small. Members practice a simple spiritual exercise, known as the latihan. In this book practising Christians, Jews and Muslims tell why they are also members of Subud. Their ‘evidences’, together with passages selected from the Founder’s talks, and the editor’s historical introduction and own experiences, make up a multifaceted book that bears witness to this new opportunity for mankind.
