Complete Works of Pir-O-Murshid (1926 II) Hazrat Inayat Khan
Original texts: Lectures on Sufism
1926 II : March 14 – May 28
A complete collection of talks by Inayat Khan during the final leg of his 1926 visit to the United States
This volume continues the lectures given by Inayat Khan in America during his last visit there. These lectures were exceptionally long and full, and represent a culmination of his public teaching. The previous volume (1926 I) included the 65 lectures delivered up until March 12, 1926, concluding in San Diego. This volume contains the 54 lectures he gave on his return journey, from mid-March through the end of May, beginning in Los Angeles, with stops in San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit, before arriving in New York. The lectures were transcribed by his secretary Kismat Stam, so our record of the lectures is strong. These lectures, some not previously published, will provide a rich trove for those interested in the details of Inayat Khan’s teaching. They also indirectly provide a colorful picture of the tumultuous spirituality of his audience—the Americans of that day.
