Outside the busy evening traffic of the West Forties created an incongruous background of worldliness, technology, and people going places to spend an evening of fun. Here, in this cold room above the night club, a witches’ circle was about to be cast and consecrated. The doors had been locked, shades drawn across the window, and the only light in the room came from two flickering candles. . .”

“Five people, reasonable, gainfully employed, no special hang-ups . . . A new coven is about to be formed. The date is December 1970, not the middle ages, not even the terrible times of seventeenth-century Salem, Massachusetts. The secrecy of the meeting is self-imposed.”

Similar meetings are taking place all over the country. The pagan revival is on the march.
